Ok, so now that we know blogging is a worthwhile endeavor, where should we get our inspiration? To get an idea of what a great blog entails, it can be helpful to check out experienced educational bloggers. Not only will their content guide you to popular topics but you may also pick up some valuable information in the process.
Education and teaching blogs share a range of information from teachers' experiences, to age-specific learning activities to use in your classroom, to the newest research on child-related topics. There are endless topics to choose from. Below I've listed three of my favorite educational blogs and the reasons I found these particular sites valuable.
1. edutopia
edutopia is a collaborative webpage dedicated to educators. What's great about this site is that there is a vast amount of information being shared by a variety of contributors that relates to all school-aged children. Founded by filmmaker George Lucas, edutopia's mission is to "[transform] K-12 education so that all students can acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to thrive in their studies, careers, and adult lives." These aspirations are enough to inspire any future educator, including myself.
Last March, when we were hit with the Pandemic and schools were closed, education was forced to evolve. Teachers scrambled to find alternative means to educate their students, who were now confined to their homes. Thankfully, this is 2020, and we have a world full of information literally at our fingertips. With the help of sites like 'Free Technology for Teachers,' educating remotely wasn't as hard as it could have been. Computer Science teacher Richard Byrne has used his knowledge and experience to share the best FREE resources for teachers. As a subscriber, you'll receive an email with Richard's tech tip of the week. Sign me up!
3. Runde's Room
What I love about Runde's room, is that it not only appeals to me as a future teacher, but also as a parent. Jen Runde has been a teacher for more than ten years, and in those ten years, she's gained a lot of valuable experience and a tickle trunk full of helpful learning activities for the classroom. To demonstrate the extent of this amazing teacher's creativity and passion for education check out The Oreo Project where Jen guides the class through activities using Oreo cookies. Scoreo! I love the idea of making learning fun, even for the bigger kids, and by incorporating the interests of students (who doesn't love cookies?), you not only engage them, but you also build solid relationships.
As teachers, it's our job to keep kids engaged, and by building a community of experienced educators who can share their knowledge, this is a task that can be easily accomplished. Blogging expands our community and benefits us all!

Hi Joleen,
It's been delightful to see such great organization between each section of your blog, being creative but also sharing insightful messages. Moreover, I agree strongly with everything you talked about regarding the "Free Technology for Teachers," not only because the pandemic outbreak forcing everyone online but because what the future is entailed to look like. We are headed into a world full of technology, so as teachers it is better to get ahead before we stray behind too far. I am too far interested with all of your blogs, which I will have to check out and maybe blog about myself.
Great Work, Thank-You!
